Happy New Year!

After another busy and interesting year, FolesHillfields closed our office over the Christmas period, though we're now open again.

Below are some highlights from the past year, and some dates for 2010 ...

Some highlights from 2009:

  • Global Citizenship (our annual primary school programme) - was bigger and better than ever this year, with regular volunteer trainings (with our 40+ volunteers), a linking club and ten weeks of activities in John Gulson Primary School
  • We began our new men's and women's health programmes (more about this in the New Year)
  • More people heard about the work we do - we spoke at conferences, hosted international visitors, offered good practice examples, and made another short video
  • A busy fortnight's visit from our link community and school in Kenya saw lots of fun, food and friendliness!
  • We had two good fund-raising auctions, and staff and students at Sidney Stringer School made great efforts and raised very useful amounts of money for our community link partners in Kenya
  • We held a very successful first Unity Seder with Jews and non-Jews
  • Tons of behind-the-scenes administrative work have built a much firmer footing for us as an organisation
  • Our website finally got fixed! Take a look around, and look out for a new design in 2010!
  • Mino and Aman became paid members of staff after volunteering with us for some time, and Angela joined us too.
  • Had a great end of year Eid, Hannukah and Christmas party!

Unfortunately we are losing Mino and Aya, who have made a huge contribution to this organisation both as volunteers and as paid staff over the last two years. They are going to be greatly missed, but will continue to work closely with us as they research setting up a sister project to FolesHillfields initiatives in Aichi prefecture in Japan. Sayonara!

  • Thursday 21st Gardening Club 1pm to 4pm
  • Wednesday 27th Open Office 2pm to 4pm
