If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost, that is where they should be. Now put foundations under them.
More than seventy residents from different cultures in Hillfields and Foleshill came together to celebrate community spirit at The Big Lunch on Sunday, outside our offices at 6 Paul Stacey House.
Whitefriars Housing Group and Coventry City Council supported us to organised a Big Lunch event at Paul Stacey House for neighbours and people living in the wider community. Residents of Paul Stacey House, Douglas House and Pioneer House, as well as others living nearby, enjoyed a barbeque and games to get neighbours talking to each other and meeting people they hadn’t spoken to before.
The event was a great opportunity for neighbours to come together, meet new people and share their different experiences and cultures. The BBQ was really well attended despite the unpredictable weather. People got involved in the games, our volunteers were fantastic as usual, and there was a lovely community atmosphere.
Omer showed his artistic skill artist chalking up a giant world map on the wall, and we asked people to mark where their grandparents grew up.
Natalie and Sue helped out with the event and gave out Health advice to residents and volunteers.
