Looking up gives light, but at first it makes you dizzy.
We've just sent out our September and October schedule - it's attached to this post, and if you click the "Read more" link you can read the contents as text ...
Of course you can also check our upcoming events and activities on our online calendar, as always.
One thing that's not on the programme yet is our Apple Juice Making Day - watch this space!
Last month we were delighted to receive our first payments of two years funding from each of the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation (who are funding the development of our Volunteering Programme in particular) and the Tudor Trust (who are contributing to our core costs).
The National Council for Voluntary Organisations has a short article about FrontlineSMS (open source text-message handling software) and how FolesHillfields uses it - we certainly find it useful.
Happy Diwali/Dipavali/Bonfire Night! It promises to be a spectacular weekend of celebrations this weekend ...!
Meanwhile, Coventry is celebrating it's annual Peace Festival - and FolesHillfields have three more events next week as part of that - on Mon 8th, Tues 9th and Wed 10th November.
More details can be found below, as well as in our attached programme. As always, the dates and times are in our online calendar, too. Hope to see you next week!
On Wednesday the 25th of August. FolesHillfields Vision Project hosted our very first Community Iftari, to bring together Muslims and non-Muslims.
During the holy month of Ramadan, Muslims refrain from eating and drinking from dawn to dusk.
The Iftar meal is the high point of a fasting persons day. There is often a lot of chatting and laughter around the table. Since its a festival of giving and sharing, Muslims prepare special dishes and invite friends and family to have iftari together.
FolesHillfields Healthy Summer continues during August. Take a look at the attached leaflet, and pass it on as appropriate.
Keep up to date online with our events calendar - and read on for highlights of the month ahead ...
More than seventy residents from different cultures in Hillfields and Foleshill came together to celebrate community spirit at The Big Lunch on Sunday, outside our offices at 6 Paul Stacey House.
We've just published our July Events Programme - you can download it as a pdf here, and it's also available as an online calendar
As always our May womens lunch was a fun, busy and lively affair!
Around 30 local women and a handful of children got together to share food, hang out with each other and make new friends. We took the opportunity to let the women know about our big FolesHillfields Health Summer, and how they can be a part of it.
There was much enthusiasm and excitement. We came up with lots of fun ideas for things to do:
We have just started a new project with the Community Development Foundation to carry out some work with women in the local area to listen, learn and develop a more deeper understanding of interfaith and intercultural relationships.
