Bye for now!

Shell helping at a public eventWell when I first turned up to the project six months ago I was unsure what to expect, I had read up on the project on the internet so I thought I knew a little of what they were about. I thought it was a run of the mill community centre/project. Little did I know at the time how wrong I was!

Read on for what I found out about what FolesHillfields is really like!

International Womens Day

So yesterday (March 8th) we celebrated the 100th year of International Women's Day. Before coming to work at this project I didn't know much about it and what a special and important day it is. So I would like to share with you a little of what I have learnt.

Healthy Walks

in

A picture of people enjoying a healthy walkI hope you all enjoyed New Year celebrations and are hopeful for a positive start to the new year! On that note we are now running a Healthy Walking Club from the project each Wednesday morning 9:30am - 10:30am. It's a great chance to make a good start to the new year by getting fit and healthy, and shaking off those winter cobwebs! It is also a great chance to meet new people and socialise.

People setting out on a Healthy WalkI really hope to see you there, if you need any more information just ring us or pop into the project. After we finish we will come back to the project for a hot drink or squash whichever you prefer. Everybody is welcome, come along to 6 Paul Stacey House and get involved!

Women's Lunch

Karolina and Angela with a plate of foodHello Everyone!!

It was great to meet everyone again today and it was so nice that people remembered my name from the women's pamper day. The room was thriving with people from all ages and cultural backgrounds and it was so nice to see everyone just hanging out and having fun. I felt so much more comfortable as I felt I knew people a little bit more and they knew me too.

An update on me and some exciting new events coming up!!

in

Hi! I have been at FolesHillfields Vision Project about three weeks now. It has been so great to meet everyone . I feel so lucky to have the chance to experience and chat with people from all different faiths and backgrounds. Especially understanding and appreciating the different roles women play within their community and in life in general. Coventry Peace Festival is coming up soon and as part of that we have some exciting events.

Women's Pamper Day - my first event!

Portrait of MichelleHi! I am Michelle and I have just started working at the FolesHillfields Vision Project as a Women's Development Assistant. I am 25 years old and have just finished university.

Alongside my studies I have volunteered for several community groups which has confirmed my interest in community work and development. I have a keen interest in health and animals and am generally a very happy lady! One of my first activities here was a Women's Pamper Day (which Raadia also wrote about)
