Caribbeans and Africans

A man and a woman, smiling, at 6 Paul Stacey HouseRecently, we brought Africans and Caribbeans together at 6 Paul Stacey (as we have several times before) to learn from each other and share experiences. We brought and shared food and other expressions of our different cultures.

I can best express the continuing success of these occasional meetings through the comments of those who came:

Caribbeans & Africans Event No. 4

People talkingThe latest in a series of events bringing African people together with African Caribbean people was held on Wednesday 16 February 2011, at the West Indian Centre. Many people who had attended previous events were present, and the evening was lively with lots of interesting debate and discussions. Click here to read more.

African & Caribbean Conversations

Angela outlines the programme for the eveningOn Thursday 28 October a group of 40+ people gathered at the West Indian Centre in Spon Street. They were there to begin to tackle the conflicts, misunderstandings and distances that exist between the various communities of African and African Caribbean peoples represented in Coventry.

Helping Haitians

Haitian FlagThe West Indian Community in Coventry have come together to launch a campaign to raise funds for Haiti. A number of organisations and individuals have been meeting to formulate a plan to offer long term support to Haiti.
