Not for glory or for fame, but for usefulness, widespread usefulness.
Recently we delivered a joint training session for four voluntary sector organisations locally in "Welcoming People Well", one of our core skills.
The local voluntary and community sector of Hillfields have been meeting up to talk about joint working for a while and as a result of that some of us started meeting to support each other work together around the management of volunteers.
This has led to some beginnings of joint working. FolesHillfields Vision Project along with Coventry Refugee Centre, the Peace House Night Shelter and Kairos decided that we would try out a joint volunteer training. We agreed to run the session around the subject of “Welcoming” as this is something that we have developed expertise in and have also run trainings with our own volunteers about. We decided that we would have 20 volunteers – up to five from each organisation and we would hold the training at the Refugee Centre which has a large training room.
The training went really well and the feedback was great - see some of it below – and we all agreed that it was something we would like to do again soon.
